When you have a garden, you have to prepare it for each season. The spring planning and summer planning are normally the most straight forward. Planning your garden for winter is a bit harder for some as they are not sure what to do exactly. Below we will discuss what you can do to prepare for the winter months for your garden.

Before it gets too cold you need to harvest everything in your garden. This might be the garden vegetables that you have that are still growing. If it gets too cold, you will lose everything. Harvest it all before it is too late.

Prune anything in your garden for the winter months. This is best done in the late fall. Do not wait until spring as you will not get as much production out of things that are not properly pruned. This gets the plants ready to grow productively as soon as it is spring.

Do what you can to weed your garden. Remove anything that you do not want to be growing in the spring. If you wait too long, things will sprout up and cause problems in your garden during the spring. Getting it out now makes it much easier than waiting until things are growing more productively later.

Do what you can to work on your soil. Compositing is a good practice for this since you will get healthy and productive soil. You can be making this all year long so it is always ready when you are going to plant. This will give your spring plants a huge advantage. Work on this during the winter.

You can still be growing something in your garden during the winter if you want to. You can use plastics, a green house, or even fish aquariums to help heat up the soil and make it warm enough to continue to grow fall plants even in the middle of winter. This is something to consider if you want to keep growing.

                How to Start a Garden Planting a garden can be easier and more enjoyable with these gardening tips Planting a garden, whether it is a vegetable plot or a flower bed, is an adventure where your creativity and patience are put to the test! You are directly responsible for the beautiful rose blooms or the delicious tomatoes that develop in this section of the land. Therefore to have the most success you need to determine where you plant! The location of the garden should be determined by several factors: sunlight, soil conditions, water and wind exposure. Take notes on when this area of the yard is exposed to sunshine. This can determine which plants will thrive there. Test your soil to see if conditioners are needed to bring it up to optimum growing conditions. Pay attention to whether water collects in this section of the lawn. Some plants do well in soggy locations, but most need well-drained soil. Strong winds can dry out soil and plants, so try to locate the plot out of direct winds. Once you have determined where you will create your garden masterpiece you are ready to select plants!

            google_ad_channel = “7940249670, ” + AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel;
google_language = “en”;
google_ad_region = ‘test’;

Choose plants that will grow in your zone. Although you might have your heart set on a certain flower or vegetable, if your climate or garden location won’t support this choice, you will inevitably be disappointed. To avoid this, choose plants that are meant for your growing zone (ideally native plants), and disease-resistant and drought tolerant plants. Ask the employee at the nursery for assistance in selecting these. Be aware of the future size of each plant. A tree planted near a house will eventually provide shade, but it could also be a hazard during storms. Plan out what flowering plants you would like for the seasons. Most perennials only bloom for a short time, so by mixing in some annuals there will be constant color in your garden. By having seasonal color you can change the look of your garden and create excitement and personality! Now that you have your garden location selected and your plants purchased, you are ready to start digging! What tools are required to get things started? These include: Rake: for seasonal cleanups and spreading/leveling soil Trowel: for transplanting and weeding Shovel: for digging, scooping, spreading compost and plantingHoe: for chopping weeds and tilling soils Pruners: for clipping flowers and pruning trees Garden Gloves: for protecting your hands from blisters and dirtGarden Hose: invest in a top-of-the-line hose that will resist kinking, is flexible and coils easily. Invest in high quality tools. They will last longer and are more durable than their cheaper counterparts. Have fun starting a garden. Don’t try to create a masterpiece your first year-build up to it. Select a few choice plants that are more expensive. The rest can be less expensive, smaller complementary plants to round out your garden. Gardening is our nation’s number one leisure activity so go out and have a good time in your own piece of earth!

The worst websites are those that use a percentage width and cover the entire monitor. It’s been proven that long lines of text fatigue the reader. People will start scanning if the lines are too long. Use a fixed-width table, 600 to 700 pixels wide. That mimics the width that people are used to from paper. The reader stays engaged and doesn’t become fatigued. Use paragraphs no longer than four or five lines. Using standard letter conventions like “Dear Friend,” will increases response. Using a drop cap increases readership. Pad your tables between 20 and 30 pixels, creating a bit of white space around the copy. Adding signatures below testimonials increases response. Using blue pen is better than black. Black, blue and white are the best background colors. A testimonial needs one of three things, preferably two or three: quantifiable, measurable, time bound. Quantifiable: People tend to give instant credibility to something that’s quantifiable. Numbers make the testimonial more believable. Round numbers like 1,000 are not believable. People are more likely to believe you increased traffic to your site by 1,157 visitors than 1,000. Measurable: Testimonials need to compare before and after results. If you started out with 800 visitors to your website, then 1,000 means nothing. You need a base line to measure the quantity. It proves that the result is huge.
Time Bound: The time frame in which the result was achieved. So you need to ask people giving you testimonials for information that is quantifiable, measurable and time bound. If they don’t give you that info, ask them for it.

Landscaping around a garden shed may seem like an impossible task but it is possible with a little imaginative thinking. Firstly treat the shed as a completely separate entity; in the same manner you would treat your house. By thinking in this fashion you will try to accentuate the beauty of the shed by regarding it as a feature instead than disguise it.

It is important at the beginning of the project to assess the condition and visual appeal of your shed. If your shed is in bad condition or is painted in a vile colour you may wish to consider replacing the shed for one that is more aesthetically pleasing. It may also be possible to improve the appearance of your shed by repainting it in a colour that more pleasing to the eye. Replacing your garden shed might not have been a cost that you have considered in your plans to landscape around your garden shed and your budget could be seriously affected. You must consider that no amount of landscaping will improve the sheds appearance if the shed looks awful to begin with.

The next step in the process is to create a path from your garden shed leading to other areas of your garden. This helps create the impression that your shed is a genuine part of your landscape, using a pathway can help to accentuate the colour contrasts with in your landscape which could be designed around your sheds exterior paint colour.

Once the path is completed it is time to consider planting, many professional landscapers decide not to plant around a shed which can work well for a shed of small size. If your shed is larger planting around it can easily result in the landscape looking tasteless, particularly is many different types of plant are used in planting. This can be easily prevented by incorporating bushes and trees within your landscaping, trees and bushes work well surrounding a shed due to their neutral colours and easy maintenance. Another bonus to using these types of garden plant is that you can choose trees that will produce fresh fruit each season.
A final factor you may wish to consider when landscaping around your garden shed is creating an entryway by adding steps the entrance of your shed. The reason for taking this approach is that you are enhancing the appearance of your shed rather than ignoring it. Adding steps to the base of your shed adds definition to the structure in the same principle as it would to your house, gazebo or pool.

In short landscaping around your garden shed need not be the difficult task you imagine as long as you actively include your shed within your landscaping plans and try to positively improve the perception of the shed rather than hide it away. Approaching the problem of landscaping around a shed in this way allows your garden to be practical as well fulfilling all your other requirements to ensure it is a beautiful garden you can be proud of.

How To Grow And Handle Fresh Herbs From Your Garden Beds Or Your Container Garden

In any recipe calling for herbs, use fresh herbs. Preparing the herbs for your dish is easy. The more tender herbs like mint, parsley, basil and cilantro can be gathered in a bowl and snipped with scissors. This is the fastest and safest way to chop the herbs. If your recipe calls for the more hardy herbs like oregano, rosemary, or thyme you should use the stripping method. Hold a branch of the herb upright in your fingers and run the fingers of your other hand down the stalk stripping the tiny leaves free. The flavor will be more intense if you have gathered the herbs from your herb gardens or container gardens because they will be absolutely the freshest herbs available.
The best way to have fresh herbs is to plant and grow them yourself. No longer is there a designated “herb garden”. They can be found in your flower beds, along walkways or in pots on your porch. Many ambitious gardeners are finding new ways to incorporate herbs into their garden beds and their container gardens.
Many gardeners are unaware of the beauty of flowering herbs and never consider planting them within their flower beds. Some herbs that have beautiful flowers are purple coneflower, catmint, bee balm, yarrow, pinks, lavender, pot marigold, borage, feverfew, and nasturtium which is particularly lovely in fresh salads.. Many other herbs, such as parsley are excellent next to flowers of all sorts because of their spectacular foliage. When planting red or blue flowers, place purple basil around them for an artful arrangement.
Another area to consider is to use herbs as ground cover. The herbs that are suitable to this are the low growing oregano, chamomile, woolly and other creeping thyme, mint, and rosemary. Not only will it look pretty but it will be absolutely fragrant. Just be careful of the mint family, they tend to take over everything.
One of the best ways I have grown herbs is in containers. In fact, I like container gardening so much I wrote my eBook “Container Gardening Secrets” (available at ContainerGardeningSecrets.com), so everyone could enjoy this type of gardening. The beauty of a container garden is that it is portable and can be changed at a moment’s whim. When there is no more room in your garden, start a container garden which you can place on your door step or patio. Use them to fill in bare spots that come up during the gardening season or put them on a sunny window sill in your home for easy harvesting. Best of all you can bring your herb containers inside over the winter months and continue to harvest for months to add to your tasty meals or to be used for medicinal purposes.
Another way to employ pots in your garden is to plant invasive herbs such as mint into a pot and then plant pot and all into the ground. This is an easy trick to keep those “creepers” from taking over your garden beds.
Plant a container garden near your door with the cherry pie scented blue flower heliotrope and other fragrant herbs such as rosemary, thyme and basil. Every time you walk by you will be greeted with there delicious scent.
Some herbs that have grown on rocky hillsides over the centuries such as thyme, oregano and lavender are perfect for cracks in flag stone paths or walls and rock gardens. They thrive in hot dry areas with good drainage. Some believe that those herbs grown in these conditions produce much better flavor.
Now is the time to plant your herbs, whether it is in a garden bed, a cracked wall or a container garden. Use your imagination. Consider color height and texture when planting your gardens. Not only will it be visually pleasing but your cooking will improve too!
Happy Gardening!

Garden landscaping ideas are always handy when planning garden designs. Be it a flower garden, herb garden or even a water garden, there are some basic princpals you should follow.
How would you go about creating your perfect garden? What ideas do you have that you would like to see come alive. Do you fancy the idea of a country style cottage garden with narrow winding pathways and fruit trees or would you rather see a grand splendour of lights, colour and clean-cut modern lines? Regardless of style, the best garden designs stem from those who inject personality into their landscaping ideas.
The first step is learning how to utilise the space you have. As the saying goes – it’s the size you have but what you do with it that counts. There couldn’t be a better statement in gardening terms. Many small town gardens have some truly stunning designs. In fact, in my town there is an annual ‘secret gardens’ day where local people open up their gardens for anyone to come and take a peak. There is also a prize for best three at the end of the day. It’s a large affair and although the number grows each year, there are usually around 200 participants and many more visitors.
Gardening is often described as an art form. I am no artist but I do love to look out of my window and see my work in all its glory. I consider myself very lucky as I live in a small village near the town that overlooks nothing but fields and a few houses dotted around. My garden is not particularly large and is a rather boring rectangular shape but this didn’t stop me creating a design that I am proud of. By using a rockery, a waterfall, curved flowerbeds, and small trees or bushes, it’s very easy to add shape to your garden and disguise any boring lines. Color is a matter of personal choice but in my design I have opted for a just a small amount of color as I prefer a modern look with gravel, potted plants, and of course my herb garden. I wanted to create the perfect yet practical place to invite friends around for a barbeque or garden party. It is for this reason I chose to add my color in the form of lighting which I can use all year round and not worry about which plants will be in bloom.
When planning your garden design, start by writing a list of all the things you like. Are you one for barbeques? Do you like to cook with fresh herbs? Do you need a low maintenance option? Do you prefer dainty flowers or clean-cut modern lines with an organised look? If you have a family with young children you will obviously need to keep your garden design practical and allow somewhere for them to play.
After doing this, split your garden into at least two sections to incorporate all of your ideas. Just to note here, a good way of joining different sections of your garden seamlessly is with a pergola. They can usually be constructed by a competent D.I.Y’er, and a great look can be achieved at a reasonable price.
Next, talk to experts at your local garden center to find out about any specifics such as when to plant and soil types etc. Alternatively buy yourself a good gardening book (you can find some good recommendations at www.perfectgardendesign.com).
Getting all of your ideas and plans in place all comes down to imagination. It may be hard work in the beginning but your time and patience will be more than worth the wait.

If you love watching birds, love seeing them in your garden, and love the songs that they sing to each other, then you probably want to attract more of them to your garden. Doing that is not very difficult at all. You simply have to make your garden as bird friendly for them as possible.

Do that, and they will keep coming back day after day. After all, birds don’t need a lot to be happy. If you give them the basics – water, shelter, and food, they will be more than happy.

Water is an important necessity for birds. They will usually get most of the water that they need through a combination of insects that they eat, wild fruits, the rain, and even the morning dew. In the winter time, they can get some of it from snow.

But, if you are looking to attract birds, what they really love is open water. It attracts birds for a number of reasons. One thing is that it provides them with an opportunity to bathe and give their wings a good cleaning – which helps them to fly. That’s why, if you can possibly find a place for a bird bath in your garden, do so. You will find that it will end up attracting a lot of birds to your yard. And, in the winter time, when open water can be hard to come by in some places, this is especially true. And, a heated bird bath makes all the difference in the world as it keeps the water from freezing to ice.

The second thing that birds will be on the lookout for is shelter. And they want it for a number of reasons. With shelter, they are shielded from predators, they are protected from the wind and rain, and it gives them a place where they can safely build nests and raise their nestlings.

Birds love to find birdhouses that are waiting, and ready for them to move in. If you place them in your garden, you can be sure that the birds will love them. And it will provide them with an additional reason to choose your garden to raise their nestling instead of another place.

Lastly, birds need food. At certain times of the year, when insects are plentiful, food is not a big problem for birds. But in times of drought or in the winter, food can sometimes be hard to find.

In addition, when it is cold outside, birds need to eat a lot more food than normal simply to keep warm. So at a time when they most need food, they can find that it is in scarce supply. If, however, you can help them out by providing feeders filled with their favorite food, once they locate the feeder, you can be sure that they will continue to come back for more.

The thing that keeps every business manager worried is the company sales. After all, it is sales that drive the revenues of a company and keep the cash flow streaming. What sets top companies apart from the rest of the pack, is not just the quality of their product, but also their marketing and sales strategy. The factor that gives some companies an edge in a highly competitive market is sales forecasting. The aim of this article is to provide a lucid explanation of what is sales forecasting all about.

What is Sales Forecasting and How Does it Work?

A business needs to run like a well oiled machine for it to reach its sales targets. However, before you can tune the functioning of a company to meet the sales demand, you need to anticipate what it is going to be. In order to meet a sales target, you need to know the market pulse and its demand for your product. That is what sales forecasting is all about.

It is all about determining future market demand, through an analysis of the current market and past sales data. A company that can pitch the right sales target, by accurately gauging the market demand of the future, rarely falls short of its target. Sales forecasting is the most important of jobs that sales managers of a company need to execute.

What makes accurate sales forecasting possible? Obviously it is only possible through the availability of accurate market data and its analysis. So one of the first jobs of a sales manager is to conduct market research and determine the amount of demand that could be generated in the future. They need to identify their niche customer base and determine the amount of product demand that may be generated in the future. Forecasting techniques is an essential part of sales training.

There are different methods of sales forecasting that focus on different forecasting time scales and use different methods of analyzing market data. The sales forecasting method needs to be calibrated according to the nature of a business to yield better predictive sales data. Some sales management departments use sales forecasting techniques that use software to analyze past market research data and predict future sales demands.

Whatever be the method of sales forecasting, it all involves market research as the first stage. This involves collecting the sales figures of the past years and also gauging the sales data of competitor companies. This may also involve surveys and data from test sales runs for the company product. The next stage is the most important one. Through analysis of past figures, the sales team needs to set up a short term and long term sales target.

Why is Sales Forecasting Important?

The importance of sales forecasting can never be overstated. Firstly, it helps the management to gear up production, ensure capital availability and calibrate marketing strategy, so that the company does not fall short of a sales target, which has been determined through sales forecasting.

Secondly, sales forecasting helps the company in gauging the market demand for any of the new products that they may be planning to launch in the future. The company can know about the changes and improvements it needs to make in its sales and marketing strategy to increase sales.

All in all, sales forecasting accuracy is largely dependent on the market intelligence team of a business. Visionary sales managers have the knack to anticipate future market trends and prepare their company to effectively handle future challenges, to optimize efficiency and add more revenue.

Company sales prosper, when there is a combination of a quality product offered, which is marketed to the right target audiences with an aggressive sales strategy. Sales forecasting methods and their implementation is vital, if you want to see your product sales soaring in the future.
